A former assistant to Sean “Diddy” Combs testified Tuesday in his sex trafficking trial, claiming the music mogul kidnapped her at gunpoint and forced her to join his plot to take down rapper Kid Cudi.
Testimony from Capricorn Clark, formerly the global brand director for Bad Boy Entertainment, kicked off a tense third week of the trial as prosecutors seek to prove that Combs ran a two-decade racketeering scheme that used powerful security officials and others to get what he wanted.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to multiple counts in the indictment, which accuses him of systematically abusing his longtime girlfriend, Cassie, whose real name is Cassandra Ventura, and other people.
Ms. Clark's testimony came days after Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, said Ms. Clark called him from his car outside his home in December 2011, telling him that Combs, angry about his relationship with the singer Cassie, had kidnapped her and demanded to be driven to Cudi's house.
Ms. Clark said Combs came to her home with a gun, demanding that she get dressed and come with him because “we're going to kill Cudi.”
She said they drove in a black Cadillac to Cudi's Los Angeles home, where Combs and his security guard entered the residence while she remained in the car and called Cassie.
Ms. Clark said that while waiting in the Escalade outside Kadi's home, she called Cassie on a burner phone and told her that Combs “attacked me with a gun and forced me to come to Kadi's house to kill him.”
She claimed she heard Kadi in the background of the call asking, “Is he at my house?” She told Cassie, “Stop him, he's going to kill himself.”
Cassie remembered telling her she couldn't stop Kadi.
Combs returned to the car and asked Ms. Clark who she claimed she had spoken to.
He took the phone and called Cassie back, she added.
Then they heard Kadi's car pull up, she said.
Combs and his bodyguard got back in the car and chased after Cudi.
