Police arrest six people during protest against refugee hotel in London

Six people were detained by police during a demonstration outside a London hotel housing refugees.

Protesters gathered outside the Britannia International Hotel in Canary Wharf on Sunday, with some setting off pink fireworks and holding England flags.

Some protesters held a sign that read: “We are not entirely right, but we are not entirely wrong. Don't put our lives at risk. Stop the boats.”

The Metropolitan Police said six arrests had been made for offences under Section 14 of the Public Order Act, possession of class B drugs and assault on an emergency worker.

In a statement to X, the Metropolitan Police said: “We imposed conditions using section 14 of the Public Order Act to prevent serious disorder during the protests in Canary Wharf.

“A group protesting against the use of the hotel by refugees was told to remain on the pavement opposite the Britannia Hotel.”

The hotel has been the site of numerous anti-migrant protests in recent weeks.
