Payments under threat? Hetmantsev answered whether salaries and pensions can be delayed in September

The war and financial challenges have forced the Cabinet to worsen the macroeconomic forecast for the country's development. In particular, regarding the reduction of the minimum wage. This negatively affects the well-being of some citizens, they begin to fear that there may be delays in social payments in the country.

The head of the Rada's financial committee, Danylo Hetmantsev, told the resource News.LIVE about how possible this is in the current situation.

According to him, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, there have been no delays in social payments, pensions, and salaries. Since 2022, all social obligations have been fulfilled on time.

This applies to:

salaries of teachers, doctors and other government employees.

Payments are made regularly, including pension indexation.

“Yes, in 2025 our social standards are frozen, but this does not apply to pensions. Pensions continue to be indexed. But my position is that they need to be unfrozen and transferred to people for 2025, and the corresponding social payments should be increased,” Hetmantsev emphasizes.

He also added that the decision to freeze some social standards is not the best solution in today's conditions, so attention should be paid to this when considering the 2026 budget.

The financier also assured that there are no reasons for delays in the near future.

It should be noted that the minimum wage is a state social standard that all enterprises and employers in Ukraine must adhere to, regardless of the form of ownership or method of payment. The last indexation of pensions in Ukraine took place on March 1, 2025, its purpose is to protect pensioners' incomes from inflation.
