Rescue teams in Myanmar have pulled a 26-year-old man alive from the rubble of a hotel in the capital where he worked, but most crews are finding only bodies five days after a powerful earthquake rocked the country.
Using an endoscopic camera, rescuers located Naing Lin Tun in the rubble and confirmed he was alive. The man was carefully pulled out through a hole in the floor nearly 108 hours after he was trapped in Naypyitaw.
In a video released by the local fire department, Naing Lin Tun, shirtless and covered in dust, appeared weak but conscious as he was given an IV and taken to hospital.
State television channel MRTV reported that the rescue operation was carried out jointly by Turkish and local teams and lasted more than nine hours.
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck at midday on Friday, destroying thousands of buildings, bridges and roads.
The latest figures put the death toll at 2,719 and 4,521 injured, although local sources report significantly higher figures.
