Pakistani authorities said two civilians were killed and four soldiers were wounded in Indian drone strikes.
At the same time, India has accused its neighbour of attempted aggression as tensions between the nuclear powers have risen sharply.
India confirmed it attacked Pakistan's air defence system, while Islamabad said it shot down several drones.
India claims to have “neutralized” Pakistani attempts to hit military targets. These claims could not be verified.
Meanwhile, in Indian-controlled Kashmir, residents of the city of Jammu reported hearing explosions and sirens on Thursday evening.
India's Integrated Defence Staff, which coordinates all of the country's armed forces, said military bases in Jammu, Udhampur and Pathankot were attacked using missiles and drones from Pakistan. The statement said the attacks were successfully repelled and there were no casualties.
Shesh Paul Vaid, former director general of police in the region, said there was a complete power outage in Jammu after loud blasts.
“Bombing, shelling or missile attacks are expected,” he wrote on social media.
Mr. Vaid told The Associated Press that Jammu airport was likely targeted and that some of the 50 loud explosions he heard could have been caused by “our defense system going off.”
Jammu and Udhampur are located near the Line of Control, the de facto border dividing the Kashmir region between India and Pakistan. Pathankot is in the Indian state of Punjab.
Sirens were also heard in some areas of the region's main city of Srinagar, locals said, followed by power outages in the city and other parts of the region.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry in a statement dismissed India's allegations that Pakistan had attacked Pathankot, Jaisalmer and Srinagar, saying “these allegations are completely baseless, politically motivated and part of a reckless propaganda campaign to discredit Pakistan.”
The document also emphasizes that “these types of actions not only further threaten peace in the region, but also demonstrate an alarming willingness to use disinformation for political and military purposes.”
