U.S. Southern Command communicated in a declaration that it assaulted a suspected "drug-smuggling" vessel in the Caribbean Sea this past Monday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.
"Information substantiated the craft was moving through established drug-trafficking pathways in the Caribbean and was participating in narcotics-smuggling activities," SOUTHCOM expressed in a message on X.

"During this operation, two male drug-terrorists were killed. No personnel from the U.S. military sustained injuries," it further stated. SOUTHCOM also disseminated a video of the engagement on X.
To date, at a minimum of 189 persons have perished due to U.S. strikes as part of Operation Southern Spear.
