Far-right activist known as Tommy Robinson released from prison after sentence reduced

Anti-Islam activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, better known as Tommy Robinson, has been released from prison in England after completing his sentence for the civil offence of contempt of court.

The 42-year-old was released from HMP Woodhill prison on Tuesday after his 18-month sentence was reduced by four months at London's High Court last week.

He was captured on video speaking for about 20 minutes on his social media channel X. He had long hair, a thick beard and a rosary around his neck.

Robinson said he plans to hold a free speech festival for his supporters in London this year.

The activist was jailed in October after admitting to multiple breaches of a 2021 injunction that barred him from repeating false allegations against a Syrian refugee who successfully sued him for defamation.
