Comedian Russell Brand to enter guilty plea to rape and sexual assault charges

Comedian and actor Russell Brand is set to plead guilty to sex crimes including rape and inappropriate conduct.

The 49-year-old actor appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court earlier this month to face charges including an allegation that he raped a woman in a hotel room during a Labour Party conference.

He is also accused of grabbing a female television employee by the breast, dragging her into a toilet and performing oral rape on her.

The radio station employee claims Brand grabbed her face, pushed her against a wall and kissed her, then began groping her breasts and buttocks.

Another alleged victim is accusing the comedian of indecent assault, claiming he allegedly grabbed her by the forearm and tried to drag her into the men's room.

Last month, he was charged by mail with one count each of rape, indecent assault and oral rape, and two counts of sexual assault against four separate women.

Brand was reportedly charged with four women between 1999 and 2005.

The allegations against the actor emerged following an investigation by Channel 4 and the Sunday Times, in which several women came forward to allege misconduct by him.

He previously told his 11.2 million subscribers on Channel X that he was glad to have the opportunity to prove his innocence.

Brand, from Hambleden, Buckinghamshire, is due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on Friday where he is expected to plead guilty to the charges.
