Meta Corporation, owned by American billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, has received a patent for an artificial intelligence system that is capable of imitating a user's behavior on social networks, including when they are absent for a long time or even dead.

Meta's AI will imitate people on social networks
Zuckerberg's team plans to create an AI based on a large language model (LLM), which will learn to analyze the available data of specific people — their posts, comments, likes, and speech style — in order to later simulate their presence on social networks.
The company made it clear that such a model would be a “simulation of the user in the event of his absence.”
What is important to understand is that this is not just a pause in social media, but also an actual death.
The patent also mentions the ability to simulate voice or video calls using such AI agents.
Zuckerberg's team claims that in this way it will be able to fill the “void” in social networks when a user's activity stops.
This idea has already been met with criticism from ethics and digital rights experts, who say that “digital clones” of people can cause emotional and moral harm to real people.
Responding to criticism, Meta stated that the patent does not imply plans to mandatory implement the technology as a product.
