Karol Nawrocki must become president, US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem appealed Tuesday at the CPAC conference in Jasionka near Rzeszów. In turn, she called the second presidential candidate, Rafał Trzaskowski, a hopeless leader and said he would rule through fear.
“It matters who is in power. For years I have seen how (they ruled) socialists and liberals, who, like the president of Warsaw, are hopeless leaders and have destroyed our countries, (…), because they ruled through fear,” Noem said in Jasionka near Rzeszów.
In her speech, she warned that if Trzaskowski wins, Poles will have to face what Americans had to face during Joe Biden's term. She described the former US president's rule as hell and said that he allowed criminals to invade the country's southern border. “Today, we have 93 percent fewer border crossings,” Noem boasted, describing the change that, in her opinion, has come with Trump's rule.

“Donald Trump is a strong leader for us, but you have the opportunity to have an equally strong leader if you make Karol the leader of this country,” she said. She added that Nawrocki would take care of equality for all. The US Homeland Security Minister announced that if Poland has the right leader who will cooperate with the US, it will continue to benefit from the American military presence and maintain access to American-made equipment.
CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) is an annual conference that has been attended by conservative politicians and activists from around the world since the 1970s. In recent years, CPAC has also been organized in other countries, including Hungary and, like this year, Poland.
With the growing popularity of United States President Donald Trump in conservative and nationalist circles, the conference was dominated by his supporters.
The co-organizer of Tuesday’s event was TV Republika.
Kosiniak-Kamysz: Regardless of Noem's statement, Polish-American friendship is strong
Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz commented on the criticism of the American minister towards Rafał Trzaskowski and the support of Karol Nawrocki. My visit to the Pentagon is the best proof of the strong Polish-American friendship, regardless of the opinion of Mrs. Secretary Noem – he said.
“Regardless of this opinion, Madam Secretary, Polish-American relations, not only in the area of security, not only in the area of national defense, but also in the area of border protection, which I discussed today with Minister Siemoniak, are very good,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said during a briefing at the Polish Embassy in Washington.
Asked whether he considered Kristi Noem's statements as interference in the Polish election, the deputy prime minister did not answer directly, instead drawing attention to his own Tuesday meeting with Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth.
“Our visit to the Pentagon today and such a strong Polish-American friendship is probably the best testimony and the best answer to the doubts that our political opponents in Poland sometimes raised about Polish-American relations,” he said.
“There have never been such intense relations with the Pentagon as we have now, at such a high level as today's meeting, and it is also very good that the Secretary for Homeland Security met with Minister Siemoniak today, because it shows that, for example, what we are doing on the Polish-Belarusian border also arouses the interest of the American side,” he added.
As he noted, he has his own opinion about Rafał Trzaskowski: that he is “a guarantor of a safe Poland under the white and red banner, under which we all fit.” (PAP)
