Main theses:

  • Ukrainian armored vehicles will begin production of 105-mm M1 artillery shells in 2026 with the potential to produce up to 100 thousand rounds per year.

Ukraine to produce 105mm M1 artillery shells

It is noted that there is a technical possibility to ensure the production of up to 100 thousand such shots per year. However, the production of maximum volumes is possible only with the availability of funding and a subscription from the state.

The M1 is reportedly a high-explosive fragmentation munition capable of firing at a range of up to 11.5 km. Its warhead contains approximately 2.18 kg of explosives and weighs 18.15 kg.

In general, this is a fairly typical projectile of its caliber, which is used in many countries. As for the total production of “Ukrainian armored vehicles”, the mentioned figures for ammunition already exceed the capacities available in many European countries. And with state funding, it is possible to provide part of the needs of the Defense Forces, and even increase the volumes even more.

Although Ukraine has received a small number of artillery systems that use 105-mm shells, they still have their own niche. In particular, due to their ease of transportation and camouflage in position. In addition, Ukraine is testing its own system designed for this type of ammunition.
