The Częstochowa treasury is auctioning off 1.2266 bitcoins. This is a rare opportunity for investors who can acquire the cryptocurrency for about three-quarters of its market value. The buyer will receive a hardware wallet with full access to digital assets.
The First Tax Office in Częstochowa has put up for auction bitcoins that came from the confiscation to the State Treasury. This is an unusual opportunity for investors and cryptocurrency enthusiasts. Such a procedure is rare in Polish tax offices, which have only sold virtual currency a few times so far.
Bitcoin available for purchase cheaper than the market
The amount put up for sale is 1.22666363 BTC, stored on a Ledger Nano S hardware wallet. According to the exchange rate on the valuation date, the value of this cryptocurrency exceeded PLN 482,000. As reported by the press officer of the Fiscal Administration Chamber in Katowice, the starting price at the auction was set at over PLN 100,000 lower than the value determined by the currency exchange rate – at PLN 361.7 thousand, which means that the buyer has a chance to acquire bitcoins for about three-quarters of its market value .
The sale will take place on June 4th this year at the seat of the First Tax Office in Częstochowa. Anyone interested can participate in the auction by paying a deposit of PLN 48,200 to the office's account.
The buyer will receive a device with access to cryptocurrency
According to the office, the buyer will receive not only a Ledger Nano S device with a Bitcoin wallet installed , but also a pin and a set of 24 passwords allowing access to the cryptocurrency . It is worth emphasizing that the transaction is not subject to goods and services tax (VAT).
As the Silesian National Revenue Administration emphasizes, the cryptocurrency comes from the forfeiture of material evidence to the State Treasury. This is another step by Polish tax authorities in managing assets recovered during proceedings.
