Norwegian billionaire dies in road accident in Poland

Hakon Vigner Lindal Olaisen, a tycoon in the Norwegian fishing industry and one of the richest Norwegians, died in a road accident on national road no. 50 between Góra Kalwaria and Kołbiela, the regional Norwegian daily “Rana Blad” reported on Friday.

A tragic incident occurred on Thursday morning in the town of Tabor in Otwock County. A Jaguar driving at high speed hit a roadside tree for unknown reasons. Two people died on the spot, one of them a Norwegian citizen – local police reported.

Rana Blad confirmed on Friday morning that one of the victims was Hakon Vigner Lindal Olaisen. The 42-year-old was co-owner of Nova Sea, a company founded by his father in 1972, specializing in salmon farming and processing. The company has more than 30 farms in northern Norway.

At the beginning of 2025, Lindal Olaisen sold his shares in Nova Sea to the world's largest salmon producer, the Norwegian concern Mowi. He cashed in 7.2 billion kroner (approx. PLN 2.7 billion) for this transaction. Earlier, with a personal fortune valued at 544 million kroner (approx. PLN 200 million), he was listed among the 400 richest Norwegians by “Kapital” magazine.
