On October 25, 2009, in a field near Gdańsk, the current presidential candidate, Karol Nawrocki, took part in a hooligan brawl. According to information from Wirtualna Polska, a dangerous bandit, who is awaiting sentences for brutal murder and attempted murder, among other things, fought alongside him – the portal reported on Friday.
Wirtualna Polska recalled that Nawrocki spoke about his participation in a hooligan brawl during an interview with Sławomir Mentzen, a former candidate. Nawrocki was asked about his participation in the “70 on 70” brawl. Nawrocki did not deny it and stated that he had participated “in various modules of noble fights”.
WP claims to have established the details of these events. The aforementioned brawl took place on October 25, 2009, after a draw between Lechia Gdańsk and Lech Poznań.

“At around 7 p.m. a fight broke out. 70 people stood against each other. The fight lasted about six and a half minutes – according to detailed reports on fan websites. Lechia fans won. After the fight, both groups dispersed without incident – Lech fans returned to their coaches and left Gdańsk,” Wirtualna Polska reports.
The portal asked Karol Nawrocki's staff about his involvement in the October 2009 fight, but Nawrocki's spokeswoman Emilia Wierzbicki had not provided an official position on the matter by the time the article was published.
“In Karol Nawrocki's staff, in unofficial conversations, we heard confirmation that Karol Nawrocki took part in the arrangement with Lech. This version was confirmed to us by two people,” WP adds.
Wirtualna Polska has also established that in the 2009 brawl, hooligans from the Young Freaks militia and friendly fans of Arka Gdynia fought on Lech Poznań's side. The leader of this group was Mirosław “Olaf” O., and his deputy Przemysław “Żaba” Ż. “Both were later convicted of participating in an organized criminal group involved in brawls and drug trafficking. The Lech team was broken up by the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police just four months after the events,” the portal reports. Meanwhile, the Lechia Gdańsk group included Olgierd L. – today arrested for, among other things, inciting arson, arms trafficking and inciting assault, and Daniel U., a.k.a. “Dzidek”. The portal reports that “Dzidek” was sentenced in 2023 to 15 years for the brutal murder of a teenager with a machete in Kraków. Previously, he had participated in, among other things, in a brutal attack on a GKS Katowice militant.
Kosiniak-Kamysz: If it is true that Nawrocki took part in the brawls, I am curious about the Church's opinion
Deputy Prime Minister, PSL leader Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Friday that if it is true that Karol Nawrocki took part in the so-called fan brawls, then he is curious about the Church's opinion. Is taking part in fights guided by Christian values? – he asked.
Kosiniak-Kamysz was asked during a press conference in Kraków about Karol Nawrocki, supported by PiS in the presidential elections, and “his participation in hooligan riots”.
“I wonder how this relates to the commandment related to love one's neighbor. Is taking part in fights something that should characterize the President of the Republic of Poland? Is taking part in fights and fan brawls something that is the best recommendation? (…) Is this fulfilling this commandment? (…) Is taking part in fights and fan brawls guided by Christian values?” – replied the PSL leader.
Kosiniak-Kamysz assessed that “we have reached some absurdity”. “Knowledge of languages is ridiculed, and participation in fights is glorified. It is a complete mix-up,” he emphasized.
“If it is true that Karol Nawrocki took part in brawls and fan fights not so long ago, then I am also curious about the Church's opinion. Honestly, here in Małopolska we have to ask about it,” indicated the leader of the People's Party.
Kosiniak-Kamysz said that in Małopolska he hears from colleagues that “there is quite strong support from the priests for one candidate”. “This is not the first time we have experienced this – the abuse of the pulpit and the use of the Church for political purposes” – he assessed.
As he pointed out, in Małopolska “the involvement of priests in negative campaigns against those they do not like and positive campaigns against those they support has always been and unfortunately still is”. “The Church should not get involved in political activities, and in the latest campaign it is getting involved again” – he added.
Minister of Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak emphasized on Thursday that organized brawls of fans, so-called brawls, are crimes. “Ask the injured policemen whether hooligan brawls are a sport… Nawrocki is very confused about moral signposts,” he wrote on the X portal. “A presidential candidate who relativizes or justifies various actions in such a way sets a terrible example,” he later assessed at a conference in Radzyń Podlaski (Lubelskie).
Prime Minister Donald Tusk was also asked about the so-called set-ups on Thursday on TVN24. “Invite Mr. Karol Nawrocki. Ask him publicly about the set-up with Odra Opole fans and his actions, whether it was a noble fight. Let him try to answer, looking you in the eye, what the +sports activation+ was, how it was,” the prime minister replied.
