Industry Days is an annual and flagship event organized by the European Commission. It is one of the key events of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, it will take place on June 5 and 6. President Konrad Fijołek believes that it is of particular importance for Rzeszów.

“In this way, our region and city have been appreciated by the Polish government and the EU. It was pointed out that this is an industrial area,” he said. “This is a great opportunity for us to take another step forward. One of the most important areas will be technologies related to space and drones,” the president added. And he announced that it was during the Industry Days that an agreement on the establishment of the Drone Technology Center would be signed.

“A very broad program, from armament to civilian aspects, also related to research work and test areas and spaces. We hope that this will be the first step towards establishing this extremely important technological and industrial driving force of Podkarpacie for the coming decades, and perhaps even generations,” emphasized Fijołek.

The centre is to be established in Rzeszów or in neighbouring Tyczyn; the signatories of the agreement are also to be representatives of Podkarpacie universities, the Aviation Valley and entrepreneurs who deal with drone technologies.

President Fijołek announced this on Friday, the last day of the campaign before Sunday's second round of presidential elections. He appealed to residents to firstly take part in the vote, and secondly to vote for KO candidate Rafał Trzaskowski. “In order to move forward, we need support in the Presidential Palace,” he said.

This was also supported by the Podkarpackie Voivode Teresa Kubas-Hul. “Let's bet on Rafał Trzaskowski on June 1. He is the guarantor that a special program for Podkarpacie will be created, because we are consistently implementing what we have declared so far, what did not require changing the provisions of the laws,” she said, adding that last year Podkarpacie received an additional PLN 1 billion from the state budget.

The KO MP Paweł Kowal also addressed voters, including supporters of Karol Nawrocki supported by PiS. “There is no candidate who can fit in 100 percent. But you can choose better or worse. And then you can't undo it. So that there is no shame,” he said. (PAP)
