The NASK Institute has announced tenders for the purchase of 12,000 artificial intelligence labs and over 4,000 STEM labs. The equipment is scheduled to be delivered to primary and secondary schools in the 2025/2026 school year, according to Wednesday's issue of “Puls Biznesu.”

As explained, in the spring, the Government Administration Service Center (COAR), acting on behalf of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, announced a tender for laptops for schools worth over PLN 1.4 billion. “Also expected in the spring was a tender for AI and STEAM labs for schools worth significantly more,” the report added.

“Things have dragged on a bit, but tenders have just begun. The NASK institute, overseen by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, has just announced a tender for the purchase of 12,000 artificial intelligence (AI) labs and nearly 4,400 natural science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) labs. The new equipment will be delivered to primary and secondary schools by the end of the 2025/2026 school year,” the article reads.

As noted, the aim of the initiative is to equip schools with ICT devices and infrastructure that will improve the quality of education in Poland. “The total value of the equipment in both procedures is estimated at nearly PLN 2.4 billion gross,” the statement read.

It was explained that the order for AI labs announced by NASK includes 8,000 sets of equipment for labs in primary schools and 4,000 sets of equipment for labs in secondary schools. “One set includes 16 laptops, an AI services central unit, an AP network device with Wi-Fi, a device cabinet with laptop charging function, a UPS power supply for the central unit, an interactive monitor with a screen diagonal of at least 75 inches with a stand, an HD USB camera with a microphone and tripod, and software,” the newspaper reads.

It was noted that the contract for STEM laboratories is divided into two parts, each including a design and prototyping laboratory, a robot construction laboratory and a nature laboratory.

The contract budget for the AI labs was announced at PLN 1.86 billion gross, and for the STEM labs at PLN 533 million gross. “Both procedures are being conducted with the aim of concluding framework agreements with multiple contractors,” the report stated.

As explained, “the deadline for submitting bids in both tenders is September 11,” and the orders are financed from the National Operational Programme. (PAP)
