Venus Williams has found success in tennis, competing in the Mubadala Citi DC Open and also advancing in the women's doubles competition with Hailey Baptiste.

“I've been able to play a lot of games here, and that's definitely been a plus. The fans in Washington are incredible. I couldn't be happier in my first week back.”

In Washington, Williams played four matches: two singles and two doubles over four days.

“Unfortunately, after the Frech match, I felt like I was out of energy,” Williams said. “I tried to find some inner strength, but I couldn't.”

Poland's Frech had previously reached the fourth round of the Australian Open. “I can't even imagine how hard she tries,” she said of Williams. “It's just amazing.”

Seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams has not ruled out a full-time return to tennis ahead of her return from a year-long hiatus at the D.C. Open.

Williams also received a wild card to play in next month's Cincinnati Open.

“I have learned a lot here. I know exactly what I need to work on and where I can improve my skills,” she said.

“The good news is that I am always in control. The main thing is to score the goal.”
