Draper and Pegula then defeated Daniil Medvedev and Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals on Wednesday night in New York, where they will face Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud.
The tournament's new format, which offers a $1 million prize for the winner, shorter sets and is held two days before the main singles draw starts on Sunday, has attracted a host of the world's top players, with the first round and quarter-finals taking place on Tuesday.

Draper and Pegula are the top seeds in the tournament thanks to their ATP and WTA rankings of fifth and fourth, respectively. They put in an impressive performance at Arthur Ashe Stadium, beating former US Open champions Raducanu and Alcaraz 4-2 4-2.

In the first game of the match, the pair immediately made a break on Alcaraz's serve, gaining an early advantage, and the rest of the set was played on serve.
Pegula and Draper then scored a decisive second break on the Spaniard's serve in the third game of the second set.
