Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is hopeful Marcus Rashford will be able to return to action this season but is reluctant to discuss his long-term prospects.
Rashford picked up a hamstring injury ahead of last week's FA Cup semi-final defeat to Crystal Palace and Emery revealed he will be out for “a few weeks”.
With just four Premier League games remaining, starting with the clash with Fulham at Villa Park on Saturday, there were concerns he might not be able to return to action before the end of his loan at Manchester United.
However, Emery suggested there was a possibility he could return in time to support Villa in achieving their goal of qualifying for the Champions League.
“He won't be able to play tomorrow,” Emery said. “He's working hard to get back as soon as possible, but it will be weeks before we know whether he can play for the rest of the season.”
“Of course, there are four weeks ahead and I hope he can play at least one or two games with us.
“Tomorrow is Fulham. Tomorrow is Fulham. We don't want to finish the season. We don't want to have a party.
“We want to continue playing. And hopefully he can help us. Of course, he is recovering with us here.
“I want to see him happy. Play, achieve your goal, and then, of course, we will discuss all the details.”
Villa's chances of qualifying for the Champions League have been boosted by Nottingham Forest's defeat at Brentford on Thursday night and a win could take them level on points with Forest and Chelsea.
“It's important to win every game,” Emery said. “From day one, day 30, day 35 – tomorrow.
“And to be consistent in striving for the best result is our task. And tomorrow, how can we respect them, how can we adapt, how can we impose and dominate our game plan through our position, playing skills and desires.
