Goals : Zhuk (30, penalty), Korsun (48, from a double penalty) — Gedura (27), Mukhudin (44, from a double penalty, 45, 48).
Despite the fact that Oleksandr Kosenko's team defeated the “tricolor” in the match for the “bronze” of the 2024 World Cup (7:1) and defeated them in a recent sparring match (3:1), the French team was a serious opponent. This was confirmed by the match in the Latvian capital.
The first half was very tense and went without goals (shots on target — 9:7).

And soon after the break, the French still managed to score. But only a little time passed, and during one of the attacks of Ukraine, one of the leaders of the French national team Mohamed knocked the ball out of the empty net with his hand. After watching the video, the referees showed the offender a red card and awarded a penalty. The beetle from the “mark” was accurate – 1:1.
In regular time, the fans saw no more goals. But in overtime, we overdid it with fouls, and Mukhudin scored a double penalty, and soon he “buried” Ukraine twice more, which had previously been among the quartet of the best teams in the Old World four times. Korsun’s well-aimed double penalty was not enough to save the game — 2:4.
In the semi-finals of the tournament, France will play on Wednesday, February 4, against the winner of the Portugal-Belgium match (February 1, 5:00 PM).
Two more quarter-final pairs were formed: Armenia – Croatia (January 31, 8:00 PM) and Spain – Italy (February 1, 8:30 PM).
