The Ukrainian national football team, which failed to qualify for the World Cup, will play a friendly match with another unsuccessful playoff qualifier for the 2026 World Cup, Poland (both, as a reminder, were eliminated by the Swedes), TVP Sport reports.
VIDEO OF THE DAY
The sparring will take place on May 31 in Wroclaw, Poland (starting at 9:45 PM).
The team of the “yellow-blues” will probably be led by a new coach, since former “manager” Serhiy Rebrov has left the team. Among the candidates for the position of head coach of the Ukrainian national team are the former assistant of Andriy Shevchenko, 54-year-old Italian Andrea Maldera, 53-year-old Portuguese ex-mentor of “Shakhtar” Paulo Fonseca, as well as 75-year-old Myron Markevich, who has experience working with the country's main team.
We should add that the history of the confrontation between Ukraine and Poland includes 10 matches. The “yellow-blue” have 3 victories, 2 matches ended in a draw, and the Poles have won 5 times (including the last three matches) (goal difference – 10:14).
By the way, according to unofficial information, in early June, the Ukrainian national team may hold another sparring match – against the Danish team.
