The football world continues to admire the goal scored by Ukrainian national team goalkeeper Anatoly Trubin in the 90+8th minute of the Champions League match against Real Madrid, which allowed Benfica to “cling” to the playoff zone.
VIDEO OF THE DAY
Let us recall that with the score 3:2, which did not suit Jose Mourinho's team due to the overall goal difference in the tournament, the Lisbon goalkeeper ran into the Madrid possession and, after a cross from a free kick, headed into Thibaut Courtois' goal.
“I didn’t understand what we needed,” Anatoly Trubin is quoted by A Bola. “Araucha and António Silva said: ‘One, we need another.’ I thought: ‘What?’ But then I saw that everyone was calling me to go forward, including the coach. So I went to someone else’s penalty area and…
I don't know what to say. Crazy moment. There was a similar moment in the game against Porto, then I was close to scoring. But now I scored. I don't even know what to say.”
When the emotions cooled down, Trubin posted on Instagram.

“My debut in the Champions League began with a match against Real Madrid. Five years have passed – and Real Madrid again. Only now with Benfica. And with a different feeling of being on the field. Sometimes football allows more than you plan. Even a goal. Thank you to everyone who supported and was with us today,” Anatoliy wrote.

Much more emotional was the reaction to Trubin's feat by Dario Srna, the sports director of Shakhtar, where the Benfica goalkeeper previously played (there is foul language in the video). “Trubin! That's a f*ck! Trubin f*cked up!” the Croatian couldn't believe his eyes.

We should add that Anatoliy Trubin became the fifth goalkeeper in history to score in the Champions League, and the first goalkeeper to score for Benfica and hit the goal of Real Madrid in European competitions. Before the Ukrainian, German Hans-Jörg Butt, Turkish Sinan Bolat, Nigerian Vincent Enyeama and Italian with Russian roots Ivan Provedel scored goals in the Champions League. At the same time, only Bolat and Provedel scored from the field, and the other two – from the penalty spot.
Previously, “FACTS” reported that Anatoliy Trubin won his second trophy with Benfica on his birthday.
