Trajanos Dellas, 50, a 2004 European football champion with the Greek national team, who could have joined Shakhtar, has suffered a tragedy in his family. His beautiful wife Gogo Mastrocosta has died at the age of 55 after a long battle with breast cancer, epo.gr reports.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Greek football legend, who is survived by his 18-year-old daughter Victoria, wrote a heartbreaking post on Instagram.

“My angel, my love, fly high, fly, go to the light, to the light that illuminated you here, to the light that filled your smile and illuminated our lives,” Traianos Dellas wrote, posting a photo of his beloved. “But no matter how far you fly, my love will reach you.”

Take care of us, my Angel, from there and especially of our Victoria!

I thank God for giving me one of His angels to accompany me all these years and make me better, but He wanted to bring him back earlier because I was unlucky in that alone. He brought you along the way, he takes you back.

At that time, the central defender of AEK and the Greek national team, a dark-skinned handsome man with a height of 197 cm, and the show business star Gogo Mastrocosta, who became a sex symbol in her homeland in the 1990s, met in 2006. In 2008, their daughter Victoria was born, and in 2010 the couple got married.

Unfortunately, a few days after the birth of their daughter, the football player's wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, which she had bravely fought for 18 years.

Let us add that the legend of Greek football, central defender Traianos Dellas played in his homeland for Aris and AEK (three times), in England – for Sheffield United, in Italy – for Perugia and Roma, and in Cyprus – for Anorthosis. As part of the Greek national team, the footballer played 53 matches and scored 1 goal (in overtime of the Euro 2004 semi-final against the Czechs), sensationally becoming the champion of Europe in 2004.

After his career ended, Dellas worked as a coach in Greece (AEK, Atromitos, Panetolikos), but in 2024 he resigned from his position as OFI coach to be with his wife.
