4.20 Chepstow – Vape claims hat-trick
The Lucas Bookmakers' Grade 5 Get Ready to Race Handicap runs over six furlongs at Chepstow at 4.20am today, with Vape looking to bet on a hat-trick.
The grey gelding, trained by John and Rhys Flint, won by a neck at Windsor on August 18 to start a hat-trick before heading to Chepstow the following day. His record at the Welsh racecourse was two wins from 11 starts, but it is now three from 12, matching his win at Windsor. The horses were quick to back him up and he came from a length and a half behind to make a good showing. Running over distance and distance today is a plus, but he will have to take a 4lb increase in weight to get back into the winning side.
The best of the rest will be hard to pick as all the runners are rated between 63 and 67, but she is likely to be challenged by Walszár , who has shown consistency since her gelding last year. Connie Rose is also in the running having been framed twice on the final day. She would probably have won the final day at Chepstow but would not have been able to score enough to be a serious contender in the end.

7.00 Southwell – Royal Lady attempts to challenge 4lb growth
Crown's Lady will be looking to resist a 4lb increase and claim a fourth win for Edward Bethell since he took over from Craig Lidster in April this year.
She was rated 65 when she arrived at Edward Bethell’s stable, but is now rated 75, having won at Wolverhampton, Catterick and most recently at Haydock. Callum Rodriguez, who has finished third in most races, led the mare into the home straight with a decisive turn of the hooves that led to victory. If she can repeat that pace, you’d think she could overcome the 4lb (1.8kg) penalty in this free fillies handicap on attheraces.com.
