Iran's second-highest scorer in football history, Sardar Azmoun, who was previously suspended from the national team for “treason”, has had his assets worth about $13 million confiscated, Fars news agency reported. The boxing champion was previously sentenced to death in Iran.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

The reason for the persecution of the footballer by the Iranian authorities was a political scandal. Azmoun published a photo on social networks with the Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which was regarded in Iran as support for the enemy side and “betrayal”. In addition, the forward was accused of supporting participants in anti-government demonstrations, as well as the United States and Israel in the war in the Middle East.

Azmoun is on the list of 16 people whose property will be confiscated in favor of the state by the decision of the Golestan provincial prosecutor's office. Thus, the famous football player, who plays in the Emirates for Al-Ahly, will lose an equestrian complex (worth about $10 million), horses, including elite ones (2 million), apartments and cottages (1 million), as well as the Serik Gonbad Kavus women's volleyball club (500 thousand).

Recall that 31-year-old forward Serdar Azmoun, before moving to the UAE, played in Russia for Rubin, Rostov and Zenit, in Germany for Bayer Leverkusen, and in Italy for Roma. Only legendary striker Ali Daei (110 goals in 153 matches) has scored more goals for the Iranian national team than he (57 goals in 91 matches).

Previously, “FACTS” reported that the two-time world football champion lost his luxurious mansion due to huge debts after the death of his son.
