In the semifinal match, the 31-year-old from Odessa lost in two sets to the world's third-ranked player, the reigning Australian Open champion, 26-year-old Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan — 5:7, 4:6.
Reaching the top four of the competition (at the fourth tournament in a row in 2026!) brought Elina $340,190 in prize money and 390 rating points, which will allow the Ukrainian to rise to 8th place in the updated WTA rankings.
As for Rybakina, for her second title in Indian Wells, the Moscow native will play against the world number one Arina Sobolenko from Belarus, who defeated the Czech Linda Noskova (14th) – 6:3, 6:4. Recall that in January, Elena defeated Arina in the decisive match of the Australian Open (the total score of their confrontation – 8:7 in favor of Sobolenko).
