
Ukraine's strongest tennis player, Elina Svitolina (9th in the world), who won the trophy in Auckland this year and reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, unfortunately, finished her performance at the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Doha (Qatar) with a prize fund of 4 million 88 thousand dollars.

In the third round match, the 31-year-old Odessa player lost in two sets — 4:6, 3:6 — to the 27-year-old “neutral” Russian Anna Kalinskaya (28th), who had an affair with former Australian Open champion Yannick Sinner. The head-to-head score between the rivals was 3:1 in favor of the Ukrainian player.
Svitolina, who won 11 of 13 matches in 2026, earned $49,250 in prize money and 120 rating points, reaching the round of 16. The Moscow native will challenge for a place in the semifinals of the competition in a duel with Czech Karolina Muchova (19th), who advanced after losing (2:5 in the first set) to her once formidable compatriot, former world number one Karolina Pliskova (418th).
