Ukraine's top seed Elina Svitolina (9th in the world), who defeated her rival from Spain in a tiebreak, continued her successful performance at the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai (UAE) with a prize fund of $4 million 88 thousand.

In the third round match, the 31-year-old from Odessa defeated Switzerland's strongest tennis player, the 2020 Olympic champion, 28-year-old Belinda Bencic (13th) in three sets — 4:6, 6:1, 6:3. The head-to-head score between the rivals was 4:2 in favor of the Ukrainian. At the same time, Elina defeated the Swiss tennis player for the fifth time in a row.
Reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament brought Svitolina $98,500 in prize money and 215 rating points. Elina, who won 13 of 15 matches in 2026, will challenge for a place in the semifinals of the competition in a duel with Croatian Antonija Ružić (67th), who sensationally defeated the 2026 Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan. With a score of 7:5, 4:6, 0:1, the native of Moscow withdrew from the fight.
We should add that Elina Svitolina is playing in Dubai for the 11th time. The Ukrainian has won the title there twice – in 2017 and 2018, and she has also reached the semifinals twice – in 2016 and 2019.
