Sport Sunday: Mayo out of Irish Premier League, Tyrone thrash Cavan

Mayo have been relegated from the Irish Football Championship.

They suffered a painful 19-15 defeat to Donegal in the Group 1 decider on Sunday night.

This result, coupled with Tyrone's 31-18 win over Cavan, ensures Cavan's survival, while Donegal progress to the final as group winners.

Monaghan previously finished top of Group 3.

They fell behind but still beat Down 2-27 to 1-26, which allowed Down to take second place.

Louth held on and knocked Clare out of the tournament with a 2-17 to 2-14 win in Portlaoise.

Limerick reach Tailteann Cup semi-finals.

In the quarter-finals, Wexford proved stronger than their opponents: the final score at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick was 4-21 to 2-19 in Wexford's favour.

Wicklow also moved into the top four after a 2-18 to 2-17 win over Westmeath at Aughrim.

Football

German champions Bayern Munich beat amateur side Auckland City 6-0 in the first half of the first leg.

The Lawn Tennis Association has resumed women's competitions in a bid to raise the game's profile.

Maria, who qualified for the tournament, beat four top-15 players on her way to the trophy.
