Sport on Saturday: Monaghan crowned Division 2 champions, Leinster triumph in Durban

GAA

Substitute Jack McCarron made a big impact as Monaghan cruised to victory at Croke Park, beating Roscommon in the final half to claim the NFL Division Two title.

In fact, Monaghan were a point down at half-time and although they went two points ahead with 57 minutes remaining, the Ulster side were still in an awkward position to lose.

However, it was at this point that they redoubled their efforts and found extra momentum, demonstrating their power, speed and big-game experience to beat Roscommon 1-6 to 0-1 in the final period.

It was truly impressive from Gabriel Bannigan's side, who felt a significant influence from substitute McCarron, who finished the game 1-2, and captain Michael Bannigan, McCarron's 57th-minute goal beginning the late onslaught.
