The Ryder Cup will return to Spain in 2031 after the Costa Brava resort of Camiral was confirmed as the venue.
This will be the second time in the country's history that such an event will be held every two years, after Valderrama in 1997.
The European Tour Group announced this on Tuesday.
It will be only the fourth time the tournament has been held in continental Europe, following Paris (2018) and Rome (2023) as hosts after Valderrama.
This year's Ryder Cup will be held in September at Bethpage Black Stadium in New York. In 2027, the venue will be Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland, and in 2029, Hazeltine, near Minnesota.
Guy Kinnings, CEO of the European Tour Group, said: “Today’s announcement not only confirms Camiral as one of Europe’s leading tournament destinations, but also highlights the significant contribution Spanish golf has made to the illustrious history of the Ryder Cup.
“The Ryder Cup has grown significantly since Spain last hosted it in 1997. It is one of the world’s most significant sporting events, bringing tangible economic benefits and global visibility to the host region and country, so we are incredibly excited to be bringing it to the Costa Brava and Barcelona for the first time and to Spain for the second time.”
Throughout the history of the competition, Europe has been represented by eleven Spaniards, and Seve Ballesteros was the famous captain of the team that defeated the United States in Valderrama.
Camiral, near Girona and about an hour's drive from Barcelona, has also been confirmed as the venue for the DP World Tour's Estrella Damm Catalunya championship from 2028 to 2030.
