Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been called up to the England squad.
The AC Milan midfielder has replaced Adam Wharton in Crystal Palace's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia this month. Wharton came on as a substitute in Palace's 3-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa on Sunday. The Football Association confirmed Wharton had withdrawn from St George's Park due to injury.
Loftus-Cheek has made 10 appearances for England but has not played for them since November 2018, when he came on as a substitute against the United States. The 29-year-old was also part of England's 2018 World Cup squad, which reached the quarter-finals. He was called up to the squad in March 2019 but withdrew from the squad.
Loftus-Cheek reunites with Tuchel, who played under the England manager at Chelsea. The Cobham academy graduate has been at Milan since 2023 and has made 70 appearances for the Serie A side, scoring 11 goals.
Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarrell Quansah has also joined the senior squad. Quansah, who joined the Bundesliga from Liverpool this summer, was part of the U21 squad that won the Euros in June. Despite having played for the senior team before, Quansah has yet to feature for the national team.
