Rory McIlroy says he may need treatment for elbow problem before Masters

Rory McIlroy has revealed he is battling an elbow injury ahead of the Masters and may need treatment before heading to Augusta.

McIlroy shot 64 in the final round on Sunday to finish fifth at the Texas Junior Open in Houston.

“My right elbow is a little bit of a problem, so maybe I should get some treatment and make sure everything is OK before Augusta,” McIlroy told Golf Channel after finishing five strokes behind winner Min-Woo Lee.

“Tomorrow [Monday] my coach Michael Bannon is coming to see me and we'll do some training and make sure everything is OK for the week.

“I had a good performance this week. I still don't think my game is at 100 percent as I would like, but it's nice to be able to work on some aspects.

World No. 2 McIlroy has already won twice on the PGA Tour this year, winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Players Championship.

The 35-year-old Northern Irishman is aiming to end his Grand Slam career by winning all four Augusta Grand Slams and ending an 11-year wait for a fifth Grand Slam title.

The Masters will take place from April 10 to 13.
