Put him on a flight to Australia!
Less than a week after taking 13 wickets and reaching a hundred in the same County Championship game, England all-rounder Rehan Ahmed continues to bolster his Ashes chances by scoring his FIFTH red-ball hundred of the season and his fourth in five innings.
The 20-year-old scored 119 while playing at No.3 for Leicestershire against Kent at Canterbury, where he recorded 17 runs with four fours and three sixes before becoming one of Matt Parkinson's seven victims.

In 2025, Rehan scored 760 runs at an average of 50.66 for the Foxes. He also scored 136 runs in the recent match against Lancashire, 106 runs against Glamorgan and 115 runs against Derbyshire.

Ahmed for Ashes?
With the ball he has taken 20 wickets at an average of 15.15 this term – 13 of those takes coming in one over against Derbyshire last week, where he took figures of 6-51 and 7-93.
Liam Dawson is currently England's Test bowler, having replaced the injured Shoaib Bashir (finger) at the end of the series with India, and the pair are likely to be the main slow bowlers sent to Australia for The Ashes this winter.
However, Rehane's performances with bat and ball have not gone unnoticed by the England team and, judging by his progress, he could become one of the contenders for the batting specialist position.

That role is currently held in the England squad by Jacob Bethell, who is also likely to travel to Australia, while Jordan Cox and James Rew (the latter of whom scored a hundred for Somerset against Nottinghamshire in the Championship on Tuesday) are likely to compete for the wicket-keeper's place in place of Jamie Smith.
Kent lose eight points after fresh incident of dissent
The other big news from Canterbury was that the hosts were docked eight points after Daniel Bell-Drummond's dissent during the defeat to Glamorgan in Cardiff last week.
It is the fourth time this season that a Kent player has shown dissent – after Matthew Parkinson against Glamorgan, Kashif Ali against Gloucestershire and Tawanda Muye against Derbyshire – leading to a penalty being awarded.
Now they are lagging behind
