England captain Harry Kane insists players have no say in the fixtures but he will never give up on the game as he is committed to winning trophies.
With an extended Champions League schedule, a larger World Cup and the recent expansion of the European Championship, top footballers are playing more matches than ever before.
With Bayern Munich challenging for the Champions League and competing in the revamped Club World Cup this summer (during international fixtures), Kane may not get a full summer rest.
However, the 31-year-old striker is aiming to play as often as possible in an effort to increase his trophy tally.
“I don't think the players' opinions are taken into account, to be honest. However, everyone wants their share, their tournament, their prize, and it is the players who have to come to terms with that,” he said.
“But it is what it is. I love football, so I will never complain about the opportunity to play it.
“I think if you manage it well with your coaches, your manager and your clubs, then at certain times you can find ways to get more rest.
“But this is not a simple topic, and the situation is far from simple. I think a balance can be found on both sides, but we need to see what that looks like.
“Ultimately, it's hard to choose because every game matters. Playing for Bayern is important. Playing for England is important.
“Everyone has their own goals that they want to achieve, and as a player you have to accept that.”
Kane certainly shows no signs of slowing down in his international career as he sets his sights on breaking Peter Shilton's goalscoring record.
The former Tottenham striker made his 105th appearance and scored his 71st goal in Monday's 3-0 World Cup qualifier against Latvia.
Kane, who made his England debut 10 years ago, is just 20 goals behind Shilton and has no plans to stop there.
“That's definitely the case. I've made it clear that I want to play for England for as long as possible,” he said.
“Of course, there will be a lot of matches before the World Cup, and hopefully eight games at that tournament.
“105 is already a special achievement. Of course
