Mauricio Pochettino rules himself out of Tottenham job race

Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed the possibility of returning to his former club Tottenham to replace Ange Postecoglou, calling it “unrealistic”.

Spurs are in search of a new manager after sacking Postecoglou just 16 days after he led the team to their first Europa League title in 17 years.

Pochettino, who is now the head coach of the United States national team, ended his five-year tenure at Tottenham in November 2019, helping the team reach the Champions League final that year.

The Argentine coach signed a two-year contract to become head coach of the U.S. national team last September and is expected to lead the team to the World Cup on home soil next year.

After his side's 2-1 friendly defeat to Turkey in Connecticut, Pochettino told reporters: “Since I left in 2019, every time I've been available and the manager's position or head coach's position at Tottenham Hotspur has become vacant, my name has been on the list.”

“If you've seen the rumors, I think there are 100 coaches on the list. I don't think there's anything to worry about.
