Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves on a five-year deal with the option of an additional year.
The deal was effectively completed on June 1 when the club activated a £62.5m release clause in the 26-year-old striker's contract.
Cunha has scored 31 goals in 76 games for Wolves since making his move permanent from Atletico Madrid in 2023.
Cunha commented: “It's hard to find words to describe my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player.
“Since I was a kid in Brazil and watching the Premier League on TV at my grandmother’s, United were my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt.
“I’m looking forward to starting pre-season training, meeting my new teammates and preparing for the upcoming season.
“Right now I'm fully focused on working hard to become an important part of the team and help the club return to its former glory.”
Cunha became Ruben Amorim's first summer signing on June 1 as the head coach began the process of rebuilding his squad following a poor domestic season and defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final.
The striker helped his country reach the World Cup final on Tuesday, providing an assist for Vinicius Jr in a 1-0 win over Paraguay.
United's sporting director Jason Wilcox said: “Bringing Matheus into the club was one of our top priorities this summer so we are delighted to have completed his signing so early in the transfer window.”
“He has all the qualities we are looking for as we strive to build a strong, dynamic and exciting team capable of competing for top honours.”
