Mark Allen recovered from a dreadful start to the second session of his second round clash with Chris Wakelin to make his 15th maximum break of the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield.
The Antrim star had failed to pot a ball in the previous three frames, while qualified Wakelin had extended his lead from 6-2 to 10-2.
However, Allen made his intentions clear in the first frame after the break, aiming for the long black and catching a lucky yellow to make his first 147 at the famous venue.
Allen punched the air after potting the black and received warm congratulations from Wakelin, who still has a great chance of reaching his first quarter-final with a session remaining in the match.
This excellent session started with some trouble for Allen as he missed a simple yellow from the spot in the first frame of the day, allowing Wakelin to take a 7-2 lead.
The 33-year-old Rugby native then continued his impeccable snooker play by winning the next three frames in which Allen failed to score a single point, including three impressive points won with the white ball on the bottom cushion.
