Marcus Rashford wants to play in the Champions League next season

Marcus Rashford is not expected to make a decision on his future until the summer but is keen to play in the Champions League next season, according to the PA news agency.

The Manchester United striker was loaned to Aston Villa until the end of the season in February after manager Ruben Amorim dropped him from the squad.

Rashford continues to develop his promising career under Unai Emery, scoring in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to fellow Champions League hopefuls Manchester City as speculation over his future continues to rage.

Villa have a £40m (€46m) option on his loan but there are still plenty of details to consider and PA reports the 27-year-old is unlikely to make a decision on his future until mid-June.

Rashford is under contract at Old Trafford until 2028, but his tense relationship with Amorim has been exacerbated by the financial difficulties of his starting club, United.

The striker is aiming for Champions League qualification next season – something Villa and United are battling for in the Premier League and Europa League respectively – but his wages could put off some potential clubs.

La Liga leaders Barcelona have been discussing a move for Rashford in the winter transfer window, with the former reportedly reluctant to move to London.

The striker has scored four goals and provided six assists since joining Villa on loan, with his performances last month earning him a call-up to the England squad.
