Manchester City suffer serious injury, Erling Haaland could be sidelined

Manchester City have been hit by a serious injury problem and Erling Haaland is likely to miss some time.

Haaland suffered an ankle injury during City's 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win over Bournemouth on Sunday.

The striker had just scored his 30th goal of the season and levelled the scores when he was injured in a clash with Cherries midfielder Lewis Cook.

City sources say Haaland underwent initial testing of his ankle on Monday and will now see a specialist to determine the full extent of the injury.

Pep Guardiola's side, still in contention for next season's Champions League, face Leicester and Manchester United this week.

They then travel to Crystal Palace and face Everton before an FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest at Wembley Stadium on April 26.

The only timeframe City could give for Haaland's recovery was that he should be fit by the end of the season.
