Mac Hansen has sealed his future with Ireland and Connacht by signing a new two-year deal.
Australian-born forward Hansen has scored 12 tries in 27 appearances for his country since making his debut against Wales in the opening round of the 2022 Guinness Six Nations Cup.
The 26-year-old's new contract will run until the end of the 2026-27 season.
“I have enjoyed every moment since moving to Ireland and am delighted to have signed this new contract,” Hansen told the Irish Rugby Union (IRFU).
“Playing for Connacht in Ireland means a lot to me and I feel like I have made a lot of progress thanks to the coaching team and the structure here.
“We have a lot of games coming up this season and my focus will be on finishing the season well for Ireland and Connacht. I would like to thank the IRFU for their confidence in me and I look forward to the future.”
Hansen, whose mother is from Cork, joined Connacht from Canberra's Brumbies in 2021.
In his debut season at Test level, he was nominated for the World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year award, while the award went to Italy's Ange Capuozzo.
IRFU Director of Performance David Humphreys said: “Having been a mainstay of the Ireland and Connacht teams in recent years, his signing for next season will be a significant boost to Irish rugby.
“He has proven himself to be a reliable player who does not hide his emotions and gives his all at important events. He is also a crowd favourite both at the club and in the country.
“We are confident that Mac has many accomplishments ahead of him and I am confident that he will continue his success in the coming seasons.”
