Liverpool reject Barcelona bid for winger Luis Diaz

Liverpool have rejected a bid from Barcelona for winger Luis Diaz.

The Colombian international has been a target for the current La Liga champions for some time, while Saudi Arabian club Al Nasr are also interested in him.

Last month, Barcelona sporting director Deco publicly mentioned the names of Diaz and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford when discussing his transfer plans.

However, according to PA news agency, when the Catalan club approached Liverpool on Wednesday they were told they had no intention of selling the player.

Diaz turned 28 in January and has two years left on his current contract, but there are no plans to extend it at this time.

Meanwhile, with Darwin Nunez likely to leave this summer and Federico Chiesa's future uncertain after a disappointing debut season in which he played just 14 games, Arne Sloth's attack looks to have already lost two of its players.

The arrival of Florian Wirtz, amid ongoing talks with Bayer over a fee after a recent £109m bid was rejected, is likely to help offset those losses – especially as Nunez and Chiesa have scored just nine goals between them.
