Lewis Hamilton has said he is excited for his fellow racing drivers to see his Formula 1 film, adding that he is busy with other film projects.
On Wednesday at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, racing drivers were given the chance to see an exclusive screening of the film, entitled Formula 1, ahead of this weekend's Grand Prix.
Oscar winner Brad Pitt stars as fictional veteran race car driver Sonny Hayes, who returns to competition after a long absence.
“Suddenly all the drivers were there and I was the centre of attention, which made me nervous,” Hamilton said.
“I thought, 'Oh my God, this is the first time anyone's seen this.' And it was nice to look around and see the reactions. I really care about what other drivers think, and I hoped they would appreciate it.
“I think the sound is great and the picture is amazing. It's something that's never been done in Formula 1. So I'm really proud of it.”
The Apple Original film, which features seven-time world champion Hamilton, will be released internationally on June 25.
The 40-year-old racer noted that, having become interested in directing, he and his film studio Dawn Apollo are working on creating new projects.
“To think that it finally happened, after all the work that we've done, that (composer) Hans Zimmer got in touch with Hans and came on board and wrote this music. I'm a huge fan of his. So the whole project was just incredible,” Hamilton added.
“In the beginning you see all these different production company logos, and mine appears, which I worked on for so long – Dawn Apollo. It appears as a planetary, that was my concept.
“I have three ideas that I'm developing. We're planning to make more films in the coming years. I have these concepts, ideas for films.
“At least two of them are going to be animated. One of them is already in the first script stage. It's really exciting.”
Formula One officials hope the film, co-written by Joseph Kosinski and Jerry Bruckheimer, will help bring the sport to new audiences even more than the Netflix documentary series Race to Survive did.
British driver Oliver Bierman praised Pitt's driving, saying: “He did an impressive job, to be honest. He really pushed the car, that's for sure.
