VIDEO OF THE DAY
The future German national team player and coach of several national teams was born in Breslau (now Wrocław, Poland) in the family of Polish footballer Leonard Piotrkow, who played in the 1938 World Cup. Sepp Piotrkow spent his entire 12-year football career as a defender for Werder Bremen, with whom he became the champion and the German Cup winner. He has six matches in the German national team shirt.

Defender Piontek played 6 matches for the German national team.
After hanging up his boots, Piontek coached his native Werder Bremen, St. Pauli, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Turkish Bursaspor, and Danish Aalborg and Silkeborg at the club level.
As the head coach of the Haiti national team, Piontek became the CONCACAF vice-champion and almost led the modest team to the final tournament of the 1978 World Cup. But the greatest recognition came from his long work (from 1979 to 1990) with the Danish national team, with which he sensationally reached the semi-finals of Euro 1984, played at the 1986 World Cup, where in the group he defeated Scotland — 1:0, Uruguay — 6:1, West Germany — 2:0, and Euro 1988. Under Piontek's leadership, “Danish Dynamite,” as the Danish team that made a splash was nicknamed, played as many as 115 matches.
