New details have emerged about the horrific car accident in Nigeria that injured 36-year-old former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua and killed two of his trainers, the Daily Mail reports.
VIDEO OF THE DAY
According to the driver's lawyer, Anthony had changed his seat in the Lexus before the accident. The driver asked Joshua to move from the front seat because he could not see properly in the side mirror due to the boxer's considerable size. The boxer swapped places with his friend and trainer Robert Lutz, sitting behind the driver.
As a result, the SUV crashed into the truck on the side where Lutz (in the front seat) and another trainer of the Briton, Cena Gami (in the back), were sitting. Joshua and the driver survived.

The driver of the car, 47-year-old Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has already been charged with dangerous driving and driving without a license. The driver, who was released on bail of 5 million naira (about $3,500) until January 20, denies all charges, claiming that the Lexus' brakes failed.
Meanwhile, the bodies of Joshua's fallen coaches have already been sent to the UK. Anthony, saying goodbye to his peers and friends, was not shy about shedding tears.

Recall that Anthony Joshua knocked out showman Jake Paul in Riyadh on December 20, after which he left for his parents' homeland in Nigeria. It was previously assumed that he would return to the ring in February-March, have another interim fight, and in the second half of the year meet Tyson Fury.
Previously, “FACTS” reported that Joshua went to the funeral home after being discharged from the hospital.
