In Burundi, footballer Igiranesa Eme Gerik died during a match after choking on a witchcraft amulet, reports Sport News Africa. Earlier, the son of the famous footballer died at the age of 21 while driving a tractor.

The tragedy occurred during a match in the second division of the national championship between “Les Guépierres du Lac” and “Amasipiri” (0:3). The midfielder of the home team lost consciousness. Doctors tried to save him, but Aimé Guérik died on the way to the hospital.
As it turned out, the football player was holding a coin in his mouth (an amulet associated with various witchcraft rituals) during the game and suddenly swallowed it.
