Ruben Amorim invited Manchester United fan Rory McIlroy to Old Trafford after his Masters victory.
After the Grand Slam at Augusta National, McIlroy said he would take his green jacket into the stadium “if it inspires United to play their best” and it appears his sentiments are in line with Red Devils manager Amorim.
In a post on the official United X page, Amorim said: “Hi Rory, congratulations on winning the Masters and would like to invite you to Old Trafford to show off your trophy.
“It's really important to us at this moment. You've achieved something that many people thought was unachievable, and we want that feeling to be present in our stadium.
“So I hope to see you at Old Trafford soon and get to know you.”
United, who lost 4-1 to Newcastle just hours before McIlroy's final leg on Sunday, face Lyon in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final at Old Trafford on Thursday but McIlroy is not expected to attend.
McIlroy previously unveiled the Claret Jug at Old Trafford after winning the Open in 2014.
