GAA Club championship: Kilcoo retain title in Down

East Kerry were denied the chance to win their third senior Kerry county title in a row after they were defeated by Dingle 2-16 to 1-14 after extra time.

The first half saw Dingle lead 1-03 to 0-5, with Tom Leo O’Sullivan scoring the opening goal of the game in the 24th minute.

East Kerry stepped it up in the second half, with David Clifford putting them in front with a goal in the 37th minute to give them a 1-07 to 1-04 lead.

Dingle responded well, and had their second goal in the 41st minute through Paul Geaney, who was crucial to their win.

With the scores level in the final moments, Clifford, had the opportunity to win the game from the penalty spot, but was prevented by an excellent save from Gavin Curran to bring the game to extra-time.

With the scones level at 2-09 to 1-12, it was Paul, Conor and Dylan Geaney who lead the charge for Dingle, as they lead at the interval 2-13 to 1-13.

Dingle pushed on well in the end to set up a final date against Dr Crokes.

All-ireland champions Glen had to dig deep as they defeated Slaughtmeil 1-9 to 0-9 to reach the Derry senior final

Elsewhere, 2022 All-Ireland champions Kilcoo defeated Burren St. Mary’s 1-10 to 0-4 points to win their sixth consecutive Down senior football championship in Newry.

Daryl Brangan scored the only goal of the game for Kilcoo in the 65th minute.

In Donegal, St Eunan’s 1-13defeated An Clochán Liath 1-10.

Erin’s Own Cargin defeated Roger Casements Portglenone 0-10 to 0-8 in the Antrim football decider in Corrigan Park after extra-time.

At O’Moore Park Portarlington enjoyed a 3-13 to 13 point win over Portlaoise in the Laois final.

St Loman’s and The Downs finished up 1-13 apiece in Cusack Park so a replay will be required in Westmeath.

Hurling

Loughmore-Castleiney are Tipperary champions after defeating Toomevara 2-19 to 1-17 in the Tipperary senior hurling final.

John McGrath scored 1-12 for the champions to help them to victory.

In Kilkenny, O’Loughlin Gaels defeated Bennettsbridge 2-17 to 1-14.

They will face Thomastown in the final, after they overcame Mullinavat 1-27 to 0-13.
