Former football player of the youth national team of Ukraine and a number of Ukrainian clubs, 28-year-old Serhiy Petrov, who fought on the side of Russia, was liquidated by soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to the propaganda media of the aggressor country. Earlier, a football referee from Crimea, who fought in the Russian army, was blown up by a mine.

In the past, a giant forward with a height of 198 cm, Petrov, who was born in Crimea, joined the ranks of the occupation army in the summer of 2025 as a volunteer. Petrov fought in an assault unit and died near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.
Over the years of his career, the striker managed to play for Volyn (48 matches), Lviv (2), Metalist 1925 (2), Rukh (1), Zirka (15), Agrobiznes (41), as well as the Uzbek Mashal (21) and Kokand 1912 (20). The last team for the native of Yevpatoria was Tavria-Energo, created by the Russians in the temporarily occupied territory. The football player played 1 match as part of the Ukrainian “youth team”, when in 2016 he played the first half in a sparring match with the Belarusians (he was replaced at halftime by… Artem Dovbyk).
