
Famous Turkish football coach Engin Firat, 55, died at Istanbul airport from a heart attack, reports turkinform.com.tr. The famous football coach, who led three European national teams, passed away earlier.

Firat reportedly collapsed during a transfer from Beirut to the Turkish city of Adana. Doctors pronounced him dead shortly after.
The specialist began his coaching career in 2002 as an assistant to Werner Laurent at Fenerbahçe. He then worked at Germany's Allen, South Korea's Incheon United, Turkey's Sivasspor, and Iranian clubs Saipa and Sepahan. In addition, the Turk was an assistant to the legendary Ali Daei in the Iranian national team.
From October 2019 to December 2020, Engin Firan served as the head coach of the Moldova national team, and from 2021 to 2024, he managed the Kenya national team. On February 8, 2026, he signed the last contract in his life with one of the leading clubs in Lebanon, Nejmeh.
